This is a recording of a live performance of Morton Feldman's "Only" that I "arranged".

The goal of this performance was to explore surround sound possibilities in real time in front of a real audience. The singer was on stage performing, while I was behind him altering his vocals through four separate sound filters.

The Audience was surrounded by four large speakers, one in each corner of the room. Each individual filter was sent to a different speaker in real time, giving the audience a complete 360 hearing radius of the performance. The idea was that the audience would hear the performers singing in surround sound and real time but each speaker would be producing a different, altered version of his voice.

I've included a rehearsal recording, which is undistorted, along with the live performance recording. The live performance has been mixed down to stereo.
